With 96 percent of classes consisting of 50 student or fewer , Creighton  students certainly get  lots of face time and  personal attention from professors. core curriculum requirements are sometimes considered  cumbersome by its students, as they include the completion of course in five categories: 18 credits in theology, Philosophy, and   requirements; 18 credits in cultures, ideas , and civilizations ; 7 credits in natural sciences; 6 social and behavioral sciences ; and 12-15 credits  in skills (such as language , speech, or writing ). '' I wish we had more flexibility in choosing our classes,'' says a student.  Strong programs at Creighton include biology,  communication studies, and pre-med  studies.

Creighton's honors program, rooted in Jesuit tradition and faith ,  aims to ''foster a community committed to the ongoing education of students and faculty members as fellow seekers for truth .'' the program looks for well prepared and academically adventurous students who want to immerse themselves in a rigorous program guided by      a faculty mentor , who shares a love of learning. ''the study '' is another  special program at Creighton, as well as its own space. Providing opportunities for students to become successful, independent learners through academic support programs, the study assists  all students by offering one on one tutoring, helping with time  management , and defining strategies that will help to raise their GPAs. Upon earning their undergraduate degree,  Creighton students also receive what is called the ''Creighton preference, ''  which is priority placement for acceptance to any of their professional schools including medical, dental, law  , pharmacy , and physical therapy . ''This is a huge advantage and takes a lot of stress out applying to graduate school,'' says a pre-med student.

Each  year  250 students participate in the university 's study abroad program. The university's office of international programs hosts a study abroad fair and study abroad 101 sessions . Unique to the university is its semester long Encuentro Dominicano. A program in the Dominican republic.  '' Encuentro Dominicano is a true immersion into life in the Dominican republic, '' Explains one student. '' It's an experience you'll never forget.'' Creighton University prides itself on its career, academic planning, and advising system. Each admitted student is assigned to a faculty preceptor who serves as an advisor throughout the first year, help in to guide the student  in scheduling classes, finding jobs, or discussing academic paths. The career center, designed to augment the guidance of the faculty advising system , allows students to work with career advisors.
